Job description:
Management and control of the maintenance team and accountable for the performance of team members. Assist in maintaining availability and reliability of all plant equipment at both sites to support and optimise production. Responsible for maintaining safety, compliance and operational excellence of the foundry and finishing departments, and implementation of all proactive control methods and procedures.
Essential requirements:
Competent in allocating resources efficiently and effectively. Pro-active, organised. Confident, team player. Strong work ethic, committed, reliable and positive can-do attitude. Adaptable, flexible and can work on own initiative. Proven knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics. Able to identify opportunities to develop production and operational improvements.
Experience in foundry processes and equipment is preferred but not crucial. Determined, organised and disciplined. As a priority, working safely with tools and equipment with an ongoing commitment to continuous improvement. Working in a busy production plant. The role requires a high level of flexibility and commitment.
Duties and responsibilities:
To ensure everyone is working in a safe environment.
Maintain safe operation of all key capital equipment across both sites
Maintain and develop written instructions and comply with company operation processes and safety procedures.
Develop and manage systems to support equipment breakdowns and emergencies.
Preserve functionality of the department across all shift patterns, holidays and shutdowns.
Manage working hours, overtime and holidays for the department to controlled budgets
Department budgetary control and cost-effective approach to maintenance strategies
Develop, schedule and optimise maintenance strategies; PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance, RCM (Reliability Centred Maintenance) and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)
Utilise OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) data to drive improvements and departmental strategies.
Promote cross-functional competences throughout the department
Support the project management, installation and commissioning of engineering installations and new equipment.
Complete tasks set by senior management and directors in a timely manner.
Organise and manage allocated maintenance duties
Manage scheduled inspection and maintenance of equipment to ensure a safe working condition.
Control document management; Organise all technical assembly and mechanical equipment drawings.
Undertake and review risk assessments and SSOW (Safe Systems Of Work) within the engineering department.
Develop and promote equipment pre-use and safety checks.
Participate in energy management for continuous improvement of gas, electricity and water consumption.
Maintain departmental tools in clean, safe condition. Stow tools and equipment in an organised method
Ensure departmental housekeeping and cleanliness is maintained
Maintain all mandatory department training qualifications relating to the specific job role including subordinates.
Attend as required training courses identified to enhance job role.
Collating data, conducting research and information to assist problem solving strategies.
Develop a culture and philosophy of continuous improvement within the maintenance function.
Oversee the management and efficient procurement and availability of spares and consumables to deliver plant availability targets with all key strategic suppliers and stockists
Manage all 3rd party maintenance resources and external contractors effectively
Support HR process when dealing with employee issues, recruitment of new team members and apprentices

Ensure all accidents and near misses are recorded in the accident book or near miss form respectively.
Ensure permit to work for all non-routine activities.
Work with the H&S advisor/management to improve health and safety / environmental compliance.
Follow and respect company purchasing procedures.
Recommend projects to improve business performance and application of engineering.
Identify root cause of persistent downtime and recommend plans to improve.
Reporting departmental concerns directly related to casting quality.
Assisting team members to complete daily tasks.
Checking and maintaining stocks of routine spares
Identify, recommend, and maintain agreed levels of critical spares
Advantageous skills:
First Aid/ Fire safety/FLT driving licence/ MEWP licence
Computer literate (Excel, word, email)
OHC Competent with lifting/slinging.

Straight-Line Group are currently hiring Yard Assistant to support the smooth running our valued client based near Droitwich, Worcestershire. The client is a busy well-established groundworks contractor.
The successful candidate must have previous experience in a similar role and have experience with all forms of construction machinery and tools.
